About the community sports series

What can I expect?

The chance to try a range of different sports and connect with old friends and new.

We'll provide equipment, accommodation, food, and travel support where necessary, so all you need to bring is your competitive edge and a willingness to get involved.

You don't need to have any prior experience or expertise, we're here to help you get involved, whatever your ability. There will be practitioners as well as coaches from each sport on hand to help.

    How does it work?

There are a series of events in different locations, leading up to the excitement of the grand finale:

    • A one day event locally in your region e.g. Scotland
    • Two 2-day regional events
    • A 2-day national event that is held in a central location

    Example day schedule

    Morning

    • Welcome
    • Individual training – rowing, archery, sitting volleyball

    Afternoon

    • Individual training – powerlifting, boccia, wheelchair basketball, optional swimming

    Evening

    • Dinner

Are you feeling nervous or anxious?

This event is all about community and camaraderie, and enjoying learning new skills at a pace that suits you. Many of our participants have feelings of nervousness or anxiety and haven't participated in sports in long time, and that's okay. They'll be lots of opportunities to ask questions before and during the event, and you're welcome to participate in as much or a little as you feel you're able to.

I can't describe how and what this has meant to me personally to be back amongst other veterans.
