Christmas gift charity donations

What do Christmas donations to Help for Heroes mean?

With so many charities to donate to for Christmas, please consider the brave veterans we support at Help for Heroes. We are here to ensure that those who risked their lives are empowered to keep living without their injuries, seen or unseen, holding them back. From running recovery centres where veterans can get the specialist help they need, to ensuring emotional support is only a phone call away, your Christmas donations ensure that we can continue this much-needed work through what can be one of the most wonderful – and challenging – times of the year and beyond.

By giving a Christmas donation, either yourself or in the form of a Christmas gift donation, you are helping us continue our work to support wounded veterans, as well as their families.

Choosing a charity to donate to at Christmas

It’s easy to find charities to donate to at Christmas. UK highstreets fill with passionate volunteers asking for a few coins, and charity Christmas cards fill up the mantel. The generosity of the British public every year is a true festive miracle for charities in need of donations, but we understand that it can be hard to choose, and that not everyone can afford to give to every cause that touches them. The sacrifices of our Heroes, past and present, is something that has impacted all our lives, sacrifices selflessly made to keep us safe.

Supporting these Heroes throughout the year is our mission, Heroes like Derek Derenalagi who, while on patrol in 2007, was caught in a bomb blast. With both legs irreparably damaged, Derek was declared dead and almost placed in a body bag until a medic detected a faint pulse. A miraculous survival meant Derek was returned home to the UK, but now had to face life as a double amputee. Through the support of Help for Heroes, Derek was able not only to overcome his injuries and trauma, but to become a Paralympian. He says, “I believe the support that the public gives is massive because of what it’s done for people like me. I just want to encourage people to give more and support Help for Heroes, not only today but for the rest of their lives.”

We are committed to helping Heroes like Derek, and just as they served their duty to our country, our duty is to them, which is why we ask you to please give what you can in your Christmas donations

How to donate to charity for Christmas

Christmas is a time of giving and sharing, and Christmas gift donations can mean you are giving more than just a physical gift, but pledging support to our veterans. We have multiple ways for you to make your Christmas donations.

Buy a Christmas gift charity donation

Christmas can be an expensive time, so we understand if you would prefer to get something in return for the Christmas donations you make. The Help for Heroes shop features a wide range of clothing and accessories that make for excellent Christmas presents. From hoodies to scarfs, polo shirts to slippers, our items have been beautifully designed to ensure you look great while supporting an even greater cause.

Make a one-off donation

All Christmas donations help make a difference, so whether you can only donate a few pounds or can commit to an ongoing monthly donation, we truly thank you. You can make donations through our website, where you can also say if your donation is in memory of someone or on behalf of a company, community group, or college.

Make the Heroes promise

For those who can donate every month, there is the Heroes Promise. For £8 a month, you can ensure ongoing support well beyond the season of Christmas donations.  When you make this pledge, you will receive:

  • A Heroes Promise flyer that we will ask you to personally sign to display in our recovery centres, so our Heroes know they have your support.

  • Regular email updates so you can see how your donations are making a difference.

  • A window sticker.

Payroll giving

If your company wants to make a difference not only at Christmas but through the year, payroll giving is easy to set up. Helping boost staff morale as you all work together to make a difference, Christmas donations can be the start of regular giving without employees having to do a thing.

Charity Christmas cards

Charity Christmas cards are something of a tradition, and Help for Heroes keep it alive every year with a range of charming Christmas cards. From traditional robins to fun contemporary designs, spread some festive joy all while supporting our Heroes. Our cards are made by a World Land Trust-certified manufacturer to reduce carbon impact and are fully recyclable.

A very merry Christmas to one and all

We are endlessly grateful to all our generous beneficiaries for all they help our Heroes to achieve. Please be a hero to them this festive season with a Christmas gift charity donation.
