A Partnership with Purpose

Over the next 12 months, Ground Control and Help for Heroes will be working side by side to:

  • Raise vital funds to reach more veterans and families in urgent need of support
  • Share expertise and innovation to solve challenges and drive meaningful impact
  • Offer volunteering opportunities so Ground Control colleagues can get directly involved in our work
  • Strengthen veteran networks, helping Ground Control develop theirs while supporting us to expand ours

Supporting charities is part of who we are, it reflects our belief in ‘Human Nature at Its Best.’ Help for Heroes’ mission of resilience and community truly resonates with us. We’re proud to support their work raising awareness, helping veterans, and expanding their reach into local communities.

“As an employer of veterans, we know the skills and dedication they bring. This partnership is a natural fit with our values of integrity, community, and valuing each other, and I’m excited to see how our people get involved and what we can achieve together.”

WE DID IT: £70,000 RAISED FOR HELP FOR HEROES

When Ground Control staff set the fundraising target for Help for Heroes, they knew it would take the full force of the team to get there. They got there.

We're proud to announce that Ground Control have gone above the original target and raised over £70,000 for Help for Heroes, supporting veterans and their families to rebuild their lives and live well after service.

This wasn't one moment. It was hundreds of them, early mornings, long miles, people giving up their weekends because they wanted to, not because they had to. That's what makes it mean something.

WHAT WE GOT UP TO

This year, Ground Control staff threw themselves into fundraising right across the business, and then some.

Race Across London: Our flagship challenge of the year. Inspired by the spirit of Race Across the World, five teams raced across the capital, navigating secret checkpoints revealed only through clues at each stage. Armed with just a limited travel budget, they relied on strategy, teamwork, and quick thinking to complete the course. All in a day's work all in aid of Help for Heroes.

WHAT WE GOT UP TO

Charity Football at Billericay Town FC:
Ground Control took to the pitch for a charity football match, bringing together colleagues for a day of competition, camaraderie, and fundraising.

Scafell Pike: A team of Ground Control colleagues took on England's highest peak, raising funds and raising the bar for what a team challenge looks like.

Snowdon: Another summit, another team digging deep. Colleagues took on Wales' highest mountain and brought the same determination to every step of the climb.

Bake Sales, Raffles & Quizzes; Across our offices and sites, colleagues organised bake sales, prize raffles, and quiz nights that brought people together and kept the fundraising total climbing.

A TEAM EFFORT FROM START TO FINISH

Suppliers; Ground Control didn't do this alone. Their supplier partners got behind the cause too, joining the effort and helping push towards that £55,000 target.

What our leaders say

"Hitting £55,000 for Help for Heroes is something we should all be incredibly proud of. The way our teams have got behind this , through races, climbs, football matches, and everything in between, says everything about the kind of company Ground Control is. These are real people we're helping, and that matters."
— Jason Knights, CEO, Ground Control

"What's struck me most this year is how people have gone above and, — not because it was asked of them, but because it felt right. That's the culture we've built at Ground Control, and seeing it show up in something as meaningful as this is exactly what Human Nature at its Best looks like in practice."
— Lisa Blakey, Chief People Officer, Ground Control

GROUND CONTROL TAKE ON SCAFELL PIKE

The Ground Control team took on Scafell Pike on the 25th April in support of Help for Heroes, showing real determination every step of the way.

Through early starts and a tough climb, they raised an incredible £1,679, a total that will be match funded by Ground Control. Doubling the impact for veterans and their families.

Their journey doesn’t stop here, as they continue their Three Peaks challenge across three months, raising even more funds and awareness for veterans and their families. Thank you again to the Ground Control team, you are helping make a meaningful difference.

Honouring Remembrance Day at Ground Control Falkirk

On Remembrance Day last year, colleagues from Ground Control Ltd in Falkirk came together to honour the Armed Forces community and show their support for Help for Heroes.

Setting off from their base at Callendar Business Park, the team walked six miles to visit local war memorials in Falkirk and Laurieston, a meaningful journey of reflection and gratitude.

It was a heartfelt day marked by remembrance, unity, and appreciation, paying tribute to those who have served and those who continue to live with the lasting effects of their service.

We’re thrilled to welcome Ground Control as our new partner. Their commitment to making a positive impact and helping communities aligns deeply with our mission to help veterans and their families live well after service. Through this partnership, we’ll be able to reach even more members of the Armed Forces community, ensuring they feel valued, supported, and connected, both now and into the future.”
