Life in and beyond the Armed Forces can bring unique challenges. Experiences that may come with leaving service and transitioning to civilian life, including changes in identity, loss of routine and family pressures, can have a significant impact on our wellbeing. While everyone experiences periods of low mood, sometimes these feelings can last longer and begin to affect daily life.
Understanding low mood and depression can help us make sense of what we're experiencing and find ways to manage it. By learning how low mood affects our thoughts, feelings, behaviour and physical health, we can recognise unhelpful patterns and explore practical strategies to support wellbeing.
Self-help approaches, building resilience and understanding available support can help us feel more in control and take positive steps forward. You don't have to face low mood or depression alone.
If you are already engaged with us, please speak to your point of contact within the Charity. They will be able to help book you onto our courses.
If you are not yet engaged with us, we’d love to welcome you.
With no need to book or sign up to anything, you can work through this online self-help guide at your own pace, any time.
We provide a range of talking therapies to help veterans and their families with their mental health. These can be for many conditions, including depression, anxiety, anger, grief and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Mental health professionals in our Hidden Wounds Service have experience working with members of the Armed Forces community. They listen without making judgement and can help you work through anything you’re struggling with.
