Loughborough is to host the first ever Help for Heroes Community Sport Conference in September, bringing together a range of experts and organisations to explore how to make sport more inclusive and more impactful for everyone.
Adaptive sports have been at the heart of the Charity's recovery programme since the start, including establishing its rapidly-growing Community Sports Series four years ago.
Ryan Hunt is the Community Sport and Innovation Manager. He said, "For the past four years, we've been working closely with a number of national governing bodies to create opportunities for veterans and their families, to try a range of adaptive sports. We've got some really great relationships with these organisations, and we thought it would be useful to bring partners together in Loughborough, which has a reputation for sporting excellence, to talk about how to create more inclusive community sport."
Organisations taking part include Basketball England, England Golf, UK Coaching and UK Deaf Sport. Dr Adi Fawcett, who is Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Basketball England, is the keynote speaker.
We know the power that sport and physical activity has to improve people's physical and mental wellbeing."
