HELP FOR HEROES SECURES £1.6M PARTNERSHIP WITH SKIPTON BUILDING SOCIETY

Help for Heroes has been selected as Skipton Building Society’s newest charity partner, with more than £1.6m expected to be generated over three years.

The funding will go towards expanding the military charity’s occupational therapy service, providing veterans and their families with home adaptations and specialist equipment to help them live independently.

Help for Heroes was chosen following a vote of Skipton Building Society’s members at its 2026 annual general meeting.

James Needham, CEO at Help for Heroes, said: “We are deeply grateful to Skipton and its members for choosing us to be their newest charity partner. Demand for our services is at its highest level, and we are supporting more people than ever before.

However, there are still veterans living in homes that no longer meet their basic needs, where they’re unable to bathe safely, cook a meal, or move around their home without risk. The difference this support will make in reducing waiting times for housing- related assessments will be life changing.

Through this partnership we can transform unsafe houses into accessible homes, so those who have served to keep us safe can live with dignity and independence.”

Skipton Building Society has a long-standing commitment to charitable giving, dedicating 1% of its pre-tax Group profit annually to charitable causes aligned with its values, including those supporting financial wellbeing, housing, and energy efficiency.

Last year, more than 1,800 people were medically discharged from military service - equivalent to five per day – and thousands are still living with challenges that occurred as a result of their time in the Armed Forces.
