Helping veterans live well at home

We're proud to partner with Skipton Building Society to help veterans and their families access safe, suitable and secure homes.

Together, we're working to ensure that more members of the Armed Forces community can live independently, safely and with dignity in homes that meet their clinical, physical and emotional needs.

For many veterans living with injury, illness, disability or declining mental health, unsuitable housing can create significant barriers to everyday life. Challenges accessing assessments, adaptations and support can affect independence, wellbeing and quality of life for both veterans and their families.

Through this strategic partnership, Skipton Building Society is helping Help for Heroes expand vital support for veterans across the UK.

What the partnership will achieve

Expanding Occupational Therapy support

Funding from Skipton Building Society will enable Help for Heroes to recruit additional Occupational Therapists, helping us respond to growing demand and reduce waiting times for housing-related assessments.

Our Occupational Therapists carry out in-depth home assessments, identifying practical changes, equipment and adaptations that can make homes safer, more accessible and better suited to individual needs.

By increasing capacity in areas of greatest demand, we can help more veterans access timely support and achieve better outcomes.

Providing practical solutions at home

Following assessment, many veterans require specialist equipment or adaptations that cannot always be provided quickly through statutory services.

Through this partnership, veterans will be able to access targeted grants, equipment and practical support that help them live more safely and independently at home.

This may include mobility aids, specialist furniture, assistive technology, smart home solutions and environmental adaptations designed to improve comfort, accessibility and quality of life.
