This Armed Forces Day (Saturday 27 June), members of a motorcycle club will be carrying a 70kg dummy on a stretcher, 1,046 metres up Ben Wyvis, to raise funds to support former service men and women.
Ten members of the Born to Lose Motor Cycle Club, which is based in Inverness, have been in training over the past month, to get ready for their challenge, which they aim to complete on Armed Forces Day. The club has raised over £3,500 to support charities in the past few years and this year is hoping to raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes.
James MacLeod, a 40-year-old electrician, is the club secretary. He explains, “We’ve all been in training, but we’re under no illusion that getting to the summit of Ben Wyvis, even without carrying a 70kg load, is tricky, especially if the weather changes. The Charity logo is two people carrying someone on a stretcher, so we thought it would be good to reflect this in our challenge.”

Vice President - Born to Lose MCC
The club vice president Don Smith was in the parachute regiment for seven years, and a few other members also have military connections. Don said, "We're happy to help such a great cause. A lot of ex-military find a missed sense of brotherhood from motorcycle clubs, so veterans and the biker community have always had a strong relationship."
