An Aldershot businessman, who has already raised thousands of pounds to support veterans and their families, is taking on a new challenge next month.
Paul Turner, who retired from his role in the family business A Turner & Sons two years ago, is taking on a 27km Heroes Hike along the Jurassic Coast with his wife Suzanne on 15 August, to raise funds for the Charity. Paul has bought himself some new walking boots, which he will be breaking in over the next few weeks, and believes that the hike is just the challenge he needs to improve his fitness levels.
Paul said, "I've worked with Help for Heroes for many years now and have met so many inspiring people. We're so proud to be supporters of the Charity. My grandad Alf had strong connections to the military, and living in a military town, I get to meet people who have served every day.
"I'm looking forward to chatting to new people on the hike, some of who will have served themselves, and some like me who want to support the men and women who protect our country."
The Alf Turner Brand have raised over £330,000 through the sale of a range of products including sausages, pork scratchings, scotch eggs. Last year they launched The Hero IPA.
Paul added, "I retired a couple of years ago after having major surgery and was looking to do something that pushed me, so the Jurassic Coast hike is a perfect way to dip my toe back in the water. And of course, I want to try and raise as much money as possible to support the charity, which is so close to my heart."
The series of seven Heroes Hikes started in April this year, with three more to go, including the Jurassic Coast on 15 August, Dartmoor on 12 September and the Lincolnshire Wolds on 26 September.
