Debenhams National Collection

Debenhams supports Help for Heroes with lots of activities throughout the year, including social events for our veterans and their families, fundraising events and staff challenges.

Part of this support includes a National Collection weekend, where our amazing volunteers sign up to bucket collect at their local store.

If you’re interested in joining us and volunteering at our Debenhams National Collection weekend on 28-29 March, please click on the ‘Register Now’ button and complete the short form.

Debenhams is quickly approaching its next incredible fundraising milestone of £2,500,000 for Help for Heroes. With your support, we can help them smash it in 2020!

The Roles

Volunteer Team Leader

We can only run a Collection at a Debenhams store if we have a Volunteer Team Leader, so this role is really important! We need amazing supporters like you to volunteer your time on both Saturday and Sunday. You’ll liaise with your Debenhams store to make arrangements for the weekend, and will also be the main point of contact for the Collection Volunteers who will be helping out with you.

We’ll send you some promotional items to take to the Collection and ask that you send these back to us afterwards (logistics and costs all covered by us). You’ll also be responsible for paying all monies raised through the Debenhams tills at the end of each day. If you’re organised, available all weekend and love meeting new people, this is the perfect role for you!

Collection Volunteer

We also need Collection Volunteers to fundraise alongside the Volunteer Team Leader over the weekend. This role is perfect if you can only spare a couple of hours (but if you are free all day/weekend, that’s a bonus!). Either way, you’ll have a great time collecting with fellow volunteers, chatting to Debenhams customers and doing your bit to support our Heroes and their families.

Do I need to register each year?

Yes, please! The stores need to know who is collecting, and if you’re registered you will be covered by our Public Liability Insurance.

Why do I need referees for the Volunteer Team Leader role?

As a new Volunteer Team Leader you’ll be handling money and receiving promotional stock, so we do need references.

Can I help if I’m under 18?

Absolutely! You’ll just need to be accompanied by an adult and we would need confirmation from a parent or guardian to be able to approve your registration.

Can my Scout/Guide/Cadet Group help?

Yes, that would be great! We’ll need an adult to register and to be with the group while they collect.

Do I need to wear Help for Heroes branded clothing for the collection weekend?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in! If you do have something branded that would be great, but it’s not mandatory.

How does someone register if they don’t have a computer?

Please give us a call on 0300 303 9888 and we’ll be happy to help.

How can I contact you?

You can email us at or call 0300 303 9888. Please leave a message if we’re not available – we’ll call you back as soon as we can!
