Get Help With Writing Your Will

Making Will-Writing as Simple and Stress-free as Possible

Writing a Will is the best possible way to provide for the people and causes you love. It’s also a great way to let your family and friends know how you’d like to be remembered, leave your mark on the world and reduce the tax burden on your estate.

And if, after taking care of loved ones, you feel able to leave a little something to those who give their all, you can help shape the future of care for our wounded veterans and military personnel. Every legacy has the power to change a life.

“Those wounded in service, and their families, will need life-long support. Your gift will ensure Help for Heroes is here for them.”

 - Roy Taylor, Submariner.

The difference you can make

When submariner Roy Taylor asked the Navy for help after a training accident left him with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, he was told to “Go home, have a drink and get a grip.”

Hear first-hand from Roy how, by leaving a gift in your Will, you can make sure our heroes get the help they need and deserve.

Use our Free Will-Writing Service

We’ve teamed up with two trusted partners, Bequeathed and the National Free Wills Network, to offer you the chance to make a simple Will for free.

Each option includes a free consultation with a legal professional, so whether you choose the convenience of starting online (Bequeathed) or prefer a face-to-face appointment with a solicitor (National Free Wills Network), both of our partners will ensure your Will fits your circumstances and meets your needs.

What if my circumstances are complicated?

Most people’s needs are covered by a simple or standard Will. If your requirements are more complicated, such as involving business interests or setting up a trust, you can still use the service but may be asked to pay for any specialist work needed.

Your solicitor will advise you of any potential cost so you can decide what to do.

Do I have to leave a gift in my Will if I use the Free Will service?

Using our Free Wills service doesn’t place you under any obligation to leave a gift, but we hope you’ll take a moment to remember veterans like Roy and imagine the difference your legacy could make.

Visit a Local National Free Wills Network Solicitor

The National Free Wills Network helps charity supporters write a simple Will through a face-to-face appointment with hundreds of participating solicitors across the UK.

How does it work?

Choose your solicitor and make an appointment

At your request, we’ll send your details to The Network and they’ll supply a list of local firms supporting the service. All the Network solicitors are registered with the Law Society as having expertise in Wills and Probate law.

You choose which firm you’d like to use and make an appointment at a time that suits you. Most firms are once again offering face-to-face consultations and working hard to ensure the safety of clients and staff, but please do ask if you have any concerns at all.

Have a free appointment with a Network solicitor and discuss your wishes

After asking about your family and financial circumstances and what you’d like to achieve through your Will, your solicitor will advise you of your options and make you aware of anything else you need to consider.

They can then help you decide on the best course of action for you and your family.

Review your free Will, sign it and have it witnessed

Work with your solicitor to finalise your Will, sign it and have it witnessed correctly. You and your solicitor will have copies to store safely.

"Writing a Will was a daunting task, but it was something I’ve wanted to do since my daughter was born. When I heard about the National Free Wills Network I jumped at the chance. The whole process was over quickly and it was a weight off my mind."

Make your Will For Good with Bequeathed

Bequeathed is a simple and convenient service that allows you to make a Will from the safety and comfort of your own home, and at a time and pace that suits you.

Every Will For Good includes 30 minutes of free legal advice, and your appointment can be by phone or video call, at home or in office.

How does it work?

Take the Bequeathed online Will interview

With information and support at hand to help you complete the Will interview, the system creates your draft Will from the answers you give. Depending on your circumstances and how prepared you are, this can take as little as 20 minutes.

You can save your progress at any time and pick up again where you left off.

Have a 30-minute telephone or video appointment with a lawyer

When you're ready, Bequeathed will arrange a free 30 minute appointment with one of their accredited legal firm partners. They will discuss your situation and your wishes and confirm the draft Will meets your needs.

Receive your free Will in the post, sign it and have it witnessed

You can then return a copy to the legal firm who will check it has been executed correctly and securely store it for you, also at no cost.
