Cycle 100km, 250km, 500km or 700km to commemorate heroes of yesterday who cycle for our safety.
More than 100,000 cyclists served with the Army Cycling Corps during World War One.
Some served on the home front, defending our coastline as they pedalled along seaside lanes. Others were sent to the frontline, where they delivered messages and undertook reconnaissance work.
Your Challenge
Throughout April, we’re asking you to cycle 100km, 250km, 500km or 750km outside, at home, or in your local gym.
There's no need to be Olympic standard to take part. If you’re looking for the ultimate challenge, why not cycle 750km? Which is roughly the distance from London to Paris and back again.
We will send you a free Help for Heroes cycling jersey once you've hit £50 in fundraising!
Where will you cycle?
This is a virtual challenge, so you don’t need to join a big event like our Big Battlefield Bike Ride to get a piece of the action.
Simply pick your distance and rack up your kilometres across the month at a time that suits you. Use a static bike at home, hit the gym, race on roads, or take to a trail. Wherever you choose to ride, please make sure you are safe!
WHY TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE?
Help for Heroes has been raising funds with pedal power since 2008 with the Big Battlefield Bike Ride. Originally intended as a one-off challenge to raise money for the Headley Court swimming pool, 16 years later the event still runs in remembrance of those who served and in support of veterans today.
If you also want to pedal with purpose for our veterans, but a multi-day bike ride isn’t your thing, Operation Cycle is the perfect challenge for any cycling ability.
