Dartmoor Heroes Hiker 2024

FUNDRAISING AND REGISTRATION

The registration fee for all participants is £49 per person. Registration for this hike closes on 30 August 2026.

The fundraising target that we ask each participant to raise is £200. Please note you don't have to meet this target before the event. You can continue to collect donations afterwards.

The Events Team are always on hand to support you through your fundraising. You can find some handy Fundraising Tools on our website, and we have lots of Fundraising ideas to get you started.

  • Heroes Hikes FAQs
    • Heroes Hikes are one-day treks held in locations across the UK. The arrival time is 07:30am or 08:00am depending on the hike. This will be confirmed to you 2 weeks before the hike.

You'll be walking as part of a group, supported by a team of experienced guides, so you can focus on enjoying the journey. There will be opportunities for short breaks along the way, and once you cross the finish line, you'll receive a well-earned completion medal!

We’ll provide tea and coffee on the morning of most hikes. However, we will not be able to provide this on Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike or London Military Landmarks. We recommend bringing your own hot drink for these hikes.

We recommend having a hearty breakfast before the hike and bringing your own lunch along with plenty of snacks to keep your energy up throughout the day.

    • We recommend a minimum fundraising target of £200 per person across all your hikes. While aiming for £200 per hike would be fantastic, it’s not required.

Many fundraisers find that once they start, their momentum builds and they exceed their goals. Setting a realistic target makes fundraising feel more manageable, and you can always increase it if things go well!

If you reach £200 with time to spare, we’d love for you to keep going, and we’ll provide plenty of fundraising support along the way.

    • We’ve set a fundraising target of £200, as we believe it’s an achievable goal—many of our fundraisers even exceed it! To help you along the way, we’ll provide plenty of support and fundraising tools.

We encourage you to aim for the £200 target, but don’t worry—if you don’t quite reach it, you’ll still be able to take on the hike. Every pound you raise makes a difference, and we truly appreciate your efforts!

    • Heroes Hikes are all about having a great time. There's so much you can get out of the experience:

      • Challenge yourself - feel a real sense of achievement.
      • Discover some of the UK’s most stunning hiking spots.
      • Show your support for the Armed Forces community.
      • Meet new friends, have fun and make memories!
    • For every Heroes Hike, we’ve got you covered with:

      • A complete kit list to make sure you’ve got the hiking essentials.
      • A training plan to get you ready for the day.
      • Fundraising tips and advice.
      • Our friendly Events Team, on hand to answer your questions.
      • Expert guides leading the way and supporting you every step of the hike.
    • You can sign up for as many hikes as you want!

    • If your dog is well behaved, kept on a lead at all times and is cleared up after; then they are welcome to join us. Livestock are kept in fields and mountains along the routes and the surrounding areas, as well as many hidden holes and cliffs, which can be extremely dangerous to a dog focused on chasing other animals (rabbits, birds, sheep, other dogs etc). Please keep your dog on a lead for this reason. Please also bring dog poo bags to clean up after your dog.

If you do decide to bring your dog, please let your Event Manager know. They will be in touch with you following your registration or you can email them on events@helpforheroes.org.uk.

    • Absolutely! You're welcome to set up a team fundraising page so everyone can contribute in one place, rather than managing multiple individual pages.

    • Our bulk registration option makes it easier than ever for your team to join the event.

      Here’s how it works:

      1. Pre-purchase group tickets in one simple transaction.
      2. Receive a unique registration link to share with your teammates.
      3. Watch your team sign up with ease and get ready to make a difference!

Unite your team, support a great cause, and enjoy a hassle-free signup process.

Got a discount code? These work on group bookings too!

    • Here’s a general outline for the day of your hike:

      • 06:30/07:00am Recommended time for breakfast (this is not provided to you on the event)
      • 07:30 or 08:00am Arrive at the start location for registration (exact timings confirmed 2 weeks before the hike)
      • 08:30am Kit check and safety briefing. Once this is complete you will head out on the hike.
      • 09:00am latest planned departure time
      • 4:00 - 6:00pm: Challenge complete! Arrive back at the event car park

Please note that these timings might change slightly. You’ll receive full details 2 weeks before the event.

    • Yes. We ask that you let us know about any medical conditions when you register. It’s important for us to be aware of anything - big or small - so we can support you properly on the day. If you’re unsure whether a particular condition might affect your ability to take part, just drop us an email at events@helpforheroes.org.uk and we’ll be happy to chat it through.

    • RAW Adventures are the brilliant team who help us bring Heroes Hikes to life. They look after the route, keep everyone safe on the day, and provide expert mountain leaders to guide you along the way. With their support, you can relax, enjoy the challenge, and know you’re in safe hands.
