Join Team UK

Since the Invictus Games launched in 2014, hundreds of wounded British military personnel and veterans have represented their country, county, city or club in sporting events at home and further afield.

Now it’s your turn to Join Team UK!

Join Team UK

Following the success of Sydney 2018 and previous Games in Toronto, Florida and London, Help for Heroes, the Ministry of Defence and the Royal British Legion have designed a programme leading up to the next Invictus Games in The Hague in May 2020.

The programme will provide opportunities for individuals to engage with sport at all levels.

This celebration of sport will culminate in the Team UK Invictus Games Trials in Sheffield from 22nd to 26th July 2019, playing host to:

  • a qualifying event for selection for the Invictus Games 2020. All athletes who wish to be considered for the Games in 2020 must attend the Trials.
  • the UK national championship for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans. Therefore, this event is also suitable for those who wish to compete in adaptive sport but have no wish to be selected for the Invictus Games in 2020.

The event will include archery, athletics, indoor rowing, powerlifting, road cycling on a closed road circuit, swimming, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby at world-class venues in Sheffield.

The Join Team UK gateway is now open for 2019 and 2020. You must Join Team UK by 9th March 2019 to be considered for later stages.

This is what your journey with Team UK could look like should you choose to join us:

The programme will consist of:

  • Sports Hubs: Locally delivered sport taster events which will provide an insight into recovery and sporting opportunities, plus information on representing Team UK in clubs and potentially The Hague 2020
Dates: 19 January in Manchester, 16 February in Newport, 2 March in Nottingham, 9 March in Bath
  • Multi-Sport Camps: For those who wish to commit to the 2019 event, plus potentially The Hague 2020, an opportunity to meet and train with the Team UK Coaching staff in the Invictus Games 2020 Sports
Dates: 10-12 May in Aldershot, 24-26 May in Loughborough, 7-9 June in Bath, 14-16 June in Sheffield
  • 2019 Event (22-26 July in Sheffield): A multisport event for all wounded, injured and sick, featuring the Team UK Invictus Games 2020 Trials and a UK national championship.
  • The Hague 2020 Team UK Programme: Training camps, selection and more training for those selected to represent Team UK at the Hague 2020 (9-16 May 2020)
  • Represent Team UK: An opportunity to represent Team UK wider than the Invictus Games; get involved in your local club, set up your own activity and more!
