Ted joined Help for Heroes at the beginning of 2020, and he leads the Policy and Public Affairs team. He focuses on shaping government policy and public understanding around key issues affecting veterans and their families.
He works with the team on various campaigns, including our most recent campaign about reforming the medical discharge process.
No two days are ever the same – one moment I might be drafting a policy paper or preparing a briefing for MPs, the next I’m working with colleagues to align our campaign messaging or planning how we influence a key government meeting. It’s a mix of strategy, storytelling, and problem-solving, which keeps it constantly engaging.
Seeing our insight and evidence make a real impact – whether that’s shaping a government discussion, changing public perceptions, or giving veterans a stronger voice in decisions that affect them.
The sense of shared purpose. Everyone here genuinely cares about improving veterans’ lives, and that creates a culture of collaboration and compassion. It’s motivating to be part of a team that combines expertise and empathy in everything we do.
Working at Help for Heroes is a daily reminder of the power of purpose. You’re surrounded by people who care deeply, and together you get to make a tangible difference for those who’ve given so much.”
