Work for Us

Keziah joined us as a Case Manager in December 2021, where her role was to support Afghan nationals through Project Solidarity. This became a permanent aspect of Keziah's role following its success, and not long after, Keziah also took on supporting members of the Armed Forces community. She joins a team of other Case Managers, and she supports veterans and their families within the Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire regions.
My mornings usually involve me carrying out an assessment for a beneficiary and outlining their next steps, as well as creating an action plan for them to keep. Following this, I will write up case notes from the assessment and complete any relevant referrals. My afternoons can vary from catching up with my team, follow up calls with veterans who I support and completing risk assessments for any upcoming visits.
I enjoy how diverse and interesting my role is. One day I can be supporting someone with food vouchers through a grants request, the next day I could be supporting an isolated veteran by helping them find a group where they can socialise with other people and form friendships. The work is challenging and it constantly grounds me.
My colleagues are passionate about helping the armed forces community to live well after service, and they make the role particularly enjoyable. The charity also has flexible working arrangements, which supports me as a parent and helps me juggle work with commitments at home.
Working for Help for Heroes is fulfilling and fun as I get to live out my values."
