It was time to kick off the shoes, sit back and be pampered for five lucky Band of Sisters members as they were treated to champagne, manicures and a full make-over by make-up artists Lee Pycroft and Anastasia Borovik at Chavasse VC House, the Help for Heroes run Recovery Centre in Colchester.
The pamper day was arranged as part of a whole programme of events for Band of Sisters, a fellowship group set up by Help for Heroes for the loved ones (male or female) who care for those who have suffered a life-changing injury or illness. As members, Band of Sisters have the chance to get in touch with others who understand what it is like to care for their nearest and dearest, giving them the opportunity to support each other through the days ahead.
Abbie Griggs, Band of Sisters Regional Coordinator: “Here at Help for Heroes, we recognise and understand that it isn’t just the ‘blokes’ (our men and women of the Armed Forces) that need support; it’s also a difficult and challenging time for their loved ones too. This is where the Band of Sisters fellowship plays a part. It was great to see the ladies getting thoroughly spoilt, particularly by such a prestigious make-up artist like Lee who volunteered her services. The ladies truly deserved it and looked amazing!”
