Dungeons and Dragons Group Helping Veterans to Connect

When a Royal Navy veteran from Plymouth saw an advert asking for people to share their ideas for supporting veterans in the local area, he knew just what was needed.
Veterans and Families – You’re a vital part of your community.
You bring experience, strength, and resilience - and your community thrives when you're involved.
The Community Builders at Help for Heroes are here to help you build on what’s strong. We offer opportunities for meeting spaces to connect, share skills, spark new friendships, and take part in activities that matter to you.
Together, we’re creating welcoming, active communities where everyone belongs - and where veterans and their families can help shape positive change.
Community Builders are your go-to people. They're based in towns and cities across the UK and will connect you with the things that matter – events, activities, volunteering, or just other veterans who get it.
They can often be found at Help for Heroes cafes, events or at the end of a telephone – ready and waiting to help you get more involved locally. If you’d like to meet your local Community Builder, you can attend your nearest Help for Heroes cafe, or email CommunityDT@helpforheroes.org.uk.
Getting involved in your community isn’t just good for your social life – it’s good for your health, confidence, and wellbeing. Whether it’s joining a sports team, having a coffee with mates, or helping out locally, it all adds up to making the community stronger and supporting each other.
Our Community Builders can facilitate this by offering you guidance and showing you where the opportunities are.
There are a variety of activities taking place across the country. This could be team sports, a walking group, volunteering opportunity or just a chance to meet up and say hello to others. Use our map to find your nearest café - just pop in your location and start exploring. You can also email CommunityDT@helpforheroes.org.uk to discover more about what we are doing in your area and get connected.
