A former Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, Zoe has a severe back problem which causes pain whenever she walks or runs. She also struggles with sitting or standing. Her injury has taken her from a GB level synchronised swimmer to someone who wasn't exercising on a regular basis, and as a consequence she lost confidence, and motivation.
She had a lightbulb moment in February 2015 and realised that feeling sorry for herself was not going to help. She began training again and said “exercise has given me back the parts of my life that my injury took away from me.”
She added: “Participating in the Invictus Games would give me a new goal to aim towards, and would inspire me to be the best I could be. I would love the opportunity to compete alongside other people, who have been through similar journeys, and who all share the same passion for furthering themselves through sport and exercise after having suffered injuries.
