Former Colour sergeant Wayne Harrod served in the British Army until he was medically discharged in 2011. The 48-year-old from Ely strongly credits sport as an integral part of the ongoing recovery journey: “It gives me confidence focus and a new lease of life. It’s a reason to push myself every day and have my family and friends alongside me supporting me on this journey. Through my own experiences and my enthusiasm, I like to lead by example and encourage and inspire others to show they can do this with resilience, motivation and passion. The structured fitness helps me with my prosthetic.” Paul also sees the great benefits of being part of the UK Invictus team: “There’s a camaraderie that comes with it supporting each other, learning from each other and overcoming the difficulties we may face – it’s like one big family, there’s a belief that we can conquer whatever we put our minds to, whatever our injury is.”
