Spencer Bull served as an Officer for 29 years in the Army until he was medically discharged in December 2017. “Living with a progressive illness creates considerable uncertainty and is extremely challenging for the whole family on many levels. Maintaining and improving my fitness is one of the ways I can best manage my condition using a method that suits me. Having lived an very active 'sporting' life prior to my illness it all stopped when I was given a formal diagnosis, and I was apprehensive about re-engaging until last year, when I was fortunate enough to be selected for Warrior Games 2017.” Spencer credits how sport has made a positive effect on his life: “Critically it is giving me the chance to manage my condition. An additional benefit has been to make my children proud of what their father has achieved, this is - particularly important at such a key stage in their lives and when I am limited by disability. I want to ‘inspire’ them but time is critical when living with a progressive illness, with an unknown prognosis, so I am extremely keen to make the most of any opportunities.”
