Categories: Invictus Games 2017 Athletes

A former Sergeant in the Royal Air Force, where he worked as an aircraft engineer, Olaf lost his left arm in a motorcycle racing accident. He was discharged in 2000 after nearly 20 years of service. Invictus 2017 will see Olaf compete in athletics (shot put and discus) and archery. He says he’s relishing the opportunity: “I had always been very active and competitive, I just required a little inspiration to ignite the fire that fuelled my desire to compete and become active again. “Being in my mid-fifties, I would like to be a source of inspiration to other limbless people just as I was inspired by the 2012 Paralympic Games, particularly those that have a few more wrinkles, grey hairs, aches, pains and gripes than others! I would be delighted and deeply honoured if I made others realise that it is not too late to achieve greatness regardless of ability.”
