In October 2009 Nathan, a former Lance Sergeant in the Army,  stood on an IED, which resulted in him losing his left leg below the knee, the right leg above the knee and various lacerations on his body. Not letting his injuries hold him back, Nathan started exploring the use of sport as part of his recovery and completed two Help for Heroes bike rides using a hand bike. He said taking part in the Invictus Games would be hugely beneficial in helping him train towards Tokyo 2020 and competing alongside injured comrades. “The Invictus Games is so much more than just taking part in sport, it also give you a huge boost in self-confidence and pride.”
