Mike Goody

Categories: Invictus Games 2016 Athletes

A former Senior Aircraftman in the RAF, Mike suffered major injuries to his left leg when the armoured vehicle he was driving hit a roadside bomb, trapping him under the wreckage whilst on his first tour of Afghanistan in 2008. Mike opted for elective amputation in 2011 after enduring 14 operations to attempt to repair the shattered bones. The blast also left Mike with hearing loss and PTSD.

Mike is in full time training in his speciality sport, swimming. He has high hopes having won medals in the inaugural Invictus Games and says this focus on sport has pushed him to lead a far healthier lifestyle both in training and at home.
