Categories: Warrior Games 2019

Having been a keen rugby player, Joe was heartbroken to be told he would not be able to play sports ever again following a bad leg injury which left him with chronic pain and significant discomfort every day.

However, wheelchair basketball has reduced his anxiety and depression and given him a purpose again. He says: “I found people that understood what it was like living with an injury and I felt at home.” He believes that competing in the Warrior Games will build his confidence and self-esteem. When he does sport he leaves all his worries at the door and feels like himself again, not just a person with an injury.
