A former Flt Lt in the RAF Joanna had an accident during training which resulted in a spinal injury leaving her paralysed from the mid chest down. Joanna was absolutely delighted to have been chosen for the Invictus Games team. Sport has always played a major part in her life and it has certainly helped her on her road to recovery and dealing with her injury.
Soon after discharge from hospital, Joanna got her first handbike and never looked back. Following on from that she took to the water on a kayak and then more recently started indoor rowing. She finds that participating in sport not only helps her physically and mentally, but also maintains her strength enabling her to live independently.
