Darran ‘Daz’ Challis, 47, served in the Army within the Parachute Regiment. In 2006 he broke his pelvis and leg whilst on operations. In 2010 he broke the other leg during a training exercise. He also suffered neck and collarbone injuries in a road traffic accident whilst on operations.
A mountain biking fan, and also a qualified instructor in this area, Daz has used sport to take his recovery further than ever. He has taken part in an Archery Leaders course with Help for Heroes and is hoping to be able to give back to the charity by fundraising for the Arch to Arc challenge.
