Daniel served in the Army and was discharged in 2016. He has a spinal cord injury and a psychological illness. Daniel is returning to the Invictus Games for a second time, after Orlando 2016, and will compete in sitting volleyball and discus. “After my injuries, negative self-talk ensued and I found myself at a crossroad. My self-confidence, mental toughness and physical ability had declined. The Invictus Games has rekindled my thoughts. “The Games harness the power of sports to inspire recovery and support rehabilitation which will help me physically, mentally and socially. Participating will play a pivotal role in my life. It’ll maintain my self-confidence, break through mental barriers and genuinely believe that within adversity lies a new opportunity to get stronger and healthy.”
