Dan Sheen joined the Royal Welsh Fusiliers early 2001 after completing phase 1 & phase 2 training. He was injured in Afghanistan 2008 and it wasn’t until 2015 that he tried skiing for the first time. He said he fell in love with it instantly.

“Irrelevant of whether my leg was hurting or not, I was still able to sit in the sit-ski and make my way down the slope. I no longer felt disabled as on the snow I was capable of doing the same as any able-bodied skier.”

Last year Dan was chosen to represent the Armed Forces Para Snowsport Team at the British Championships in France in both the Slalom and Giant slalom events.

“I learnt so much from that competition that I was able to carry with me to future events. The training we received from both the AFPST and British coaches proved invaluable moving forward.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity which has now been afforded to me. Looking at the future I hope to be able to compete with the top sit-skiers in the world events.”
