Former Army Private Charlie Walker will take up his place in the Invictus Games UK Team for a third time in Toronto having taken part in the London and Orlando events. Charlie, who had both his legs amputated, is a team sports stalwart and as well as playing with the Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Rugby teams, will coach the Sitting Volleyball team. Charlie said: “The ongoing benefits of being part of the UK Team are huge. It gives me a sense of purpose, a reason to set new higher goals. It keeps me physically fit and mentally strong. The other reasons are harder to quantify but it lets me know that I haven't been forgotten and gives me a chance to be with a military team again. Having competed and coached before I believe I can help others achieve their goals.”
