The comfort and companionship of animals can have significant benefits in a therapeutic setting. In this film, it doesn’t take long for this Help For Heroes supporter Shane Kennedy and beneficiary Elaine Corner to discover a shared passion.
Shane set up Sled Dogs As Therapy UK after watching a TV interview with a disabled military veteran with PTSD, and he now takes his two stunning Alaskan Malamutes, Mishka and Koda, into Help For Heroes as part of its Rolling Recovery Programme.
After losing the lower half of her leg in a motorbike accident, Elaine rediscovered a passion for horse riding through the Battle Back programme, and now manages the Help For Heroes polo team.
In their video, the pair discuss their passion for what they do, and the part that animals play in rediscovering a sense of purpose.
