Former RAF sergeant Michelle has a heart condition which causes exhaustion, extreme dizziness and unannounced collapses. As a result she had confined herself to her house, embarrassed by the inevitability of collapsing in public. But she overcame that fear and took part in the Games in Toronto in 2017. She credits the games with transforming her life. Health issues meant Michelle was hospitalised in Toronto so she wasn’t able to compete in the pool and she feels she has ‘unfinished business’ to take care of in Sydney. After being medically discharged this year, after 20 years in the military, Michelle is yearning for a chance to reignite the fire within, get herself back on track and help others along the way. Invictus has taught her to never give up.
