Captain Mahendra Phagami joined the British Army in 1993 and served for seventeen years before he was injured in Afghanistan and still serves today with 1st Battalion the Royal Gurkha Rifles. Mahen, who was born in Nepal but lives in London, is looking forward to representing the UK Invictus Games team and hopes to participate in golf and wheelchair basketball. He said: “Since I got injured I can’t play many sports. Golf has given me a great deal of physical stability to become healthy and active again. I would like to set myself a new goal for the future and continue to play for as long as I can. Mahen is keen to push himself again and set new fitness goals. He is looking to the future, and after Toronto, is hoping to continue with wheelchair basketball and golf, with a view to representing Team GB.
