After suffering injuries to both legs, former Army Corporal Lisa, 37 from Doncaster, fell into a deep depression. Being wheelchair-bound meant she put on lots of weight and lost her feeling of self-worth. Inspiring by wanting to set a good example for her three children, she joined a gym and week by week, her confidence grew.
Her eldest son even said that his “pre-injury” Mum was finally returning. Lisa said: “Sport and daily exercise has slowly given me my confidence back. I feel less anxious in public when people stare at me and my boys love their new “active” Mummy. I feel that by taking part in the Invictus Games 2020, it is the next big step in my recovery pathway.”
