Kevin Kell

Kevin is a Sergeant in the Army, serving since 1995. He has a traumatic brain injury along with a psychological illness and a hearing impairment. He has also been diagnosed with a brain tumour, which is still growing, and will therefore affect his peripheral vision and potentially cause other impairments. Kevin will be competing in golf at Invictus 2017. For him, it offers a release of emotions and relieves stress. The game offers him an opportunity to play simply himself against a ball without worrying about the wider world. He hopes the Invictus Games will provide a valuable opportunity to socialise with others who have been in a similar situation, become more confident in social situations and from that feel more confident reintegrating back into wider society. Kevin also lost his wife to caner last year, and by competing at Invictus hopes to inspire his young daughter as she grows up: “I want her to know no matter what life throws about you, you can rise above it.”
