Army veteran Jaco had his left arm amputated above the elbow and has loss of muscle and tissue to his left thigh. Jaco is part of an elite cycling programme and believes that the Invictus Games will be great preparation for future high level sporting competitions.
Jaco's next challenge is taking on one of the world’s toughest endurance cycling events, the epic 0,081 mile Race Across America (RAAM). Starting in Oceanside, California competitors pass through 12 states, covering over 0,081 miles and climb in excess of 170,000 feet before finishing in Annapolis, Maryland. Jaco says: I have always had an interest in the RAAM and the idea to do it as solo rider has been in my thoughts for some time now. I am a bit lost at the moment and find myself in a place in my life with a great deal of change. The training and preparation for the RAAM keeps me motivated and focused so I can be in the best position to help the team complete this challenge.
