Flt Lt Nathan Jones

Nathan is a Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force and suffers with a spinal cord injury. This includes breaking his L5, a crushed S1, a prolapsed disc, nerve damage and partial paresis of his gastrocnemius muscle. This will be Nathan’s second Invictus Games, after being selected in 2016, and he will compete in cycling, swimming and rowing. “When I was originally injured and told I couldn't take part in impact sports again I thought my competing days were over. Being part of Invictus 2016 changed all that and it gave me a physical and mental drive and passion I could focus on through the training and competing. Crashing into the fence at the end of last year’s crit race and losing out on gold has only made me hungrier to come back this year.”
