Royal Marine, Fergus Hurst suffered a major dislocation and fracture of his right ankle. He has had several operations to correct the injury but has had to overcome several severe infections whilst recovering from his injury. As a result, his right leg is very weak and he can’t cover a lot of distance walking. He has to cope with a lot of pain when trying to be active.
Fergus said: “The Invictus Games is physically encouraging me to train harder and has reinvigorated my approach to my rehab treatment by giving me a goal. Socially and mentally, Invictus is giving me the opportunity to be amongst other injured service people with similar problems. It’s great to compete against other countries at a high level and high profile event with friends.”
