Edward McMahon

Former Army Physical Training Instructor Edward McMahon hails from the Isle of Man. He is looking forward to making his family proud when he competes in Sydney this October, and credits them for helping him get this far. “My own recovery is not just about me, it’s been a family affair. My family have had to pick up the pieces. It’s a journey that’s still ongoing but they have helped me along the way and encouraged me to keep on pushing myself even in my deepest despair.” 49-year-old Edward knows it’s not just about his own recovery journey though. The team spirit, camaraderie and brotherhood of the Invictus Games is what drives him on. “It’s great to be part of a team of men and women who have gone through traumatic and life changing events who have been brought together to build a new start. I have made so many new friends and learnt so much about myself. I have been training hard now for over two years in that time I have made so many gains both physical and mentally. I’m now focused and ready to take on my first Invictus Games.”
