Daniel Richards

32-year-old veteran Daniel Richards discovered cycling as a competitive sport in 2016 after completing 2016 Help for Heroes fundraising sportive, the Big Battlefield Bike Ride. “It gave me a new set of goals to want to achieve. Cycling gave me a means to keep fit and improve my social activity. Competing in the Invictus Games is for me as far as recovery is concerned is a final chapter in moving forward.” The former Lance Bombardier, who lives in South London, is now looking forward to representing Team UK at the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney, Australia. “It’s amazing to be representing my country as part of a team of extraordinary individuals who are showing everyone that no matter what kind of adversity they face, it is not the end. I firmly believe that for me competing in the Invictus Games will enable me to close the door on my recovery and move onto the next stages of my life - my only regret is I never did this sooner.”
