Arron Dindyal

London-born Arron Dindyal joined the Army in 2003. He suffers from a progressive degenerative spinal condition and will require full-time use of a wheelchair in the future. Arron was medically discharged in 2011 and competed at the 2016 Invictus Games in Orlando. Arron says: “After Orlando I was even more driven to get back and improve. I was going to local schools to do talks and seeing the kids’ faces as they wore my medals was actually quite emotional. For the first time since my injuries, I had achieved something I felt was worthwhile.” Arron trains with a local wheelchair basketball and rugby teams, and hopes to compete in both sports this year in Toronto. “The benefits from competing in the Games is huge. To have the pride in myself to represent my country again will have such an impact that I can’t put it into words. Being able to play sport has given me a self-worth again. I want to make my family proud and inspire other WIS to see that injuries are not the end, but the start of a new chapter.”
