Andy Allen

Andy Allen, MBE, MLA At the age of just 19, Andy was deployed to Afghanistan with the 1st Battalion the Royal Irish Regiment, where he was horrifically injured by an improvised explosive device.

11 years on from his life-changing injuries, Andy aims to utilise his passion for sport via the Warrior Games and Help for Heroes Sports Recovery to continue his own personal recovery journey. Andy has faced significant complications with the use of prosthetic legs following his double above-knee amputations, however, he hopes that improving his fitness through the Warrior Games may assist his chances of being able to walk again.

Andy says that “better fitness, mental health and well-being and an overall sense of purpose” are why he applied for the Warrior Games.
