Since suffering spinal cord injuries Alan has found that sport and the desire to compete have been big drivers in his life. By competing at the Warrior Games he wants to show his family and peers that, whatever life throws at you, you can still achieve your goals. Having had a difficult year in 2018 following family losses, Alan has worked very hard at strengthening his mental and physical health, with archery being at the centre of this.
This has fuelled his desire to introduce both archery and other sports to aid others with their own mental and physical health within his local and wider communities. He says: “I have injuries both physical and mental, BUT they will not define me."
