Why we supported Mental Health Awareness Week 2015

Posted by: Help For Heroes | Categories: General

Help for Heroes has always believed that the key to an individual’s Recovery is through their physical and psychological wellbeing, and our whole approach revolves around this.

Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) is an opportunity for the public to show their support for those with hidden injuries, and for us to come together to help break down stigma so that those in need of support can ask for it.

H4H got behind it this year to show our military community that we care about helping them get mental health support, as soon as they need it.

We were delighted with the response we had from supporters, beneficiaries and even celebrities – so thank you for helping to raise the profile of military mental health!

Your support is helping to break down barriers.

Why is it so important?

In the same way that anyone can get aches, pains or colds, everyone can have days where they feel stressed, worried or down. So, just as we go to a pharmacist or a doctor when we’re ill or in physical pain, help is also available when stress or worry feels like it's getting too much.

Help for Heroes have recently developed a Hidden Wounds psychological wellbeing service that can arm Veterans and Forces families with the skills to understand and manage many of these mental health challenges. To chat to a member of the team, call Hidden Wounds weekdays 9am-5pm:
