Students prove raising funds for Veterans is a piece of cake!

Posted by: Help For Heroes | Categories: Fundraising

Two-star bakers from Bedfordshire proved they could rise to the challenge of supporting our Heroes, by holding a cake sale that raised an impressive £300.

Sisters Amelia, 15 and Olivia, 14 took part in this year’s Bake for Heroes by making more than 300 cupcakes and selling them to the tune of £310 during a dance show at their school.

The girls, who whipped up an array of tasty treats in red, white and blue, even persuaded some of their local businesses to chip in and help them on their quest to ‘dough their bit’ for wounded Veterans, with their local Morrisons donating a £10 voucher and Waitrose offering a free bag of baking ingredients.

The dance show, held by Doreen's School of Dancing, took place at their school, Vandyke Upper School. Whilst Olivia performed, Amelia manned the bake stand. With soft drinks also on sale to wash down the doughy delights, and with the dance school donating half of the money from a raffle held on the day, the total raised stood at an eventual £610!

This is the fourth Bake for Heroes bake sale these impressive young women have completed – and over the years they’ve raised an amazing £1967.70. A big thank you to Amelia and Olivia for baking a real difference to the lives of our Heroes.
