Pioneer's Ice Run

Posted by Help For Heroes | Categories: General

A pair of Help for Heroes fundraisers set off today on the challenge of a life-time. Described as, “longer than England, colder than vodka and harder than granite”, Matt Prior, a British ex RAF pilot, and Dennis Malone, a serving soldier in the Australian Military, are coming together as pioneers on the very first Ice Run.

The brain-child of extreme-adventure challenge company The Adventurists, the Ice Run will see Matt and Dennis travel unsupported to the Arctic Circle on a WWII Russian Ural motorbike and side car. During the journey they will cross the frozen solid Lake Baikal.

In a true test of grit and mettle, Matt and Dennis will endure temperatures as low as -50 degrees and travel over 2500km from Siberia to the Arctic Circle. As well as being an epic adventure and a challenge of a lifetime, there is a more serious reason the team are taking on the Ice Run: to raise vital funds for multiple charities, including Help for Heroes, Cool Earth, Soldier On and Plan UK.
