GE has our Heroes' wellbeing in mind

Posted by: Help For Heroes | Categories: General

GE has adopted H4H as its very first National Fundraising Charity Partner and aims to raise £350k over the next two years to fund a new Wellbeing Suite at Help for Heroes Recovery Centre, Phoenix House in Catterick. The Wellbeing Suite will provide a quiet space for residents and visitors and provide additional facilities for activities such as yoga classes.

GE and Help for Heroes have a lot in common such as our mutual belief in the importance of both physical and mental wellbeing, our passion for sport and our can-do attitude. Globally, GE values veterans for their unique leadership skills and qualities they can bring to the workplace and actively recruits from the armed services. GE employs 1400 veterans in the UK. This partnership dovetails with that and adds a philanthropic aspect to our military veterans’ strategy.

GE’s employees have a busy calendar of fundraising events planned with teams signing up to take part in Hero Ride, Tough Mudder, 3 Peaks, skydives, marathons, black tie dinners and music festivals.

Their fundraising got off to a great start with over £700 raised on the first day of the campaign with sales of cakes in the office!

Help for Heroes Band of Brothers Ambassador Si Harmer visited GE to thank them and spoke about how important the support from the public has been to him and his family to his recovery (see below). You can read Si’s story here.
