Cycle 4 Heroes

Posted by: Help For Heroes | Categories: General

Saturday 27th June sees an addition to the popular Armed Forces Day events with a special Cycle 4 Heroes Charity event. There are two different cycle rides taking place around Medway and its surrounding areas, and ensures to include the whole family.

The Sportive Challenge is ideal for the seasoned cyclists as well as those that have not been riding for too long but who are confident on the road. Heading out along the roads that run alongside the River Medway participants will follow a route of teasing climbs with sweeping descents through the quiet lanes of the Kent countryside.

The Family Ride is great fun for all the family. At 10 miles it is a pleasant way to spend the afternoon exploring the cycle tracks in the Medway area. The route has been designed to keep away from the road as much as possible.

Steve Craddock added "the event is being held in conjunction with Armed Forces Day and starts and finishes at the Royal Engineers Museum. My target for this and other events and challenges I am attempting is to raise enough money for Help for Heroes to build a cycle workshop and secure cycle storage unit at Tedworth House. Tedworth House is the charity's main Recovery Centre and many wounded servicemen and women from the Medway and Kent area have attended the centre in their difficult path to recovery. Cycling has enabled so many of our wounded to not only get fit but to take part in Elite events such as the Commonwealth Games, Paralymics and indeed the highly successful Invictus Games.
