Bryn's Christmas Message 2015

Posted by: Help For Heroes | Categories: General

As we all start thinking about Christmas, we have been editing a short video of some of the extraordinary events and activities that have happened this year, too many to remember but all special to those who took part.

If I have to choose one, I will mention the Hero Awards. In true H4H style we hold the awards in the Phoenix Centre at Tedworth House, a sports hall rather than in a theatre in Leicester Square surrounded by celebrities.

The award winners could not believe they had done anything special but they had. Ordinary decent people who think they are just the same as everyone else but people who go out of their way to support our blokes.

As we heard one extraordinary story after another, the lady next to me turned and said, "Is it OK to cry?"

I suppose that's what H4H is all about. Ordinary decent people doing extraordinary things to support those who don¹t consider themselves Heroes, just blokes. People who get it and keep on laying on events, rattling buckets, baking, running, stocking filling, volunteering, fund raising, climbing, cycling and doing all sorts of mad things to ensure that those who have suffered in the service of our country get the chance to rebuild their lives.

That's all they want really. They don¹t want our pity nor to be considered anything more than just blokes. But they do want the chance to get back in the game, pick up their children, have a laugh, look forward to tomorrow, get some sleep, be normal.

That's all they want for Christmas.

It's all very simple really. That's all there is to it. Good people doing their best for those who have done theirs.

So all I can say is thank you so much and if you feel a bit emotional about all this, well it's perfectly acceptable to have a bit of a tear in the eye but then let¹s get on with the job.

Onwards and Upwards!

Have a very merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

With thanks from us all at Team H4H.
