Ruth's updates | Wales

I have provided a lovely “mug shot” of the whole team so everyone can put faces and voices to names, before you all have the pleasure of meeting each other.

Before we get down to what has been going on behind the scenes and what is still to come, there have been three weddings in the Fellowship this month: the Prudom wedding, the Hiscut wedding and mine! Each were wonderfully unique in every way. From elegant country views, to Las Vegas show girls and even the Mad Hatter's Tea party and drag queens!

This month I have been getting back into the swing of things with a coffee and cake morning at the Caerphilly Miners Hospital. Since you all enjoy it so much, it will become a regular monthly get-together.

We have also been to the Senedd at Cardiff Bay to have a tour of the building, find out what is happening in Wales and to see the “Weeping Window”. It was such a lovely day, that was made even better by so many of you attending and being able to catch up and listen to you all laugh and chat over coffee and Welsh cakes! Afterwards, we wrote a commemorative card to remember our fallen Heroes. It was an extremely special day.

What's coming up?

  • Tea & coffee catch-up, Newport, 10 October
  • Coffee & cake, Nuffield Health, Bridgend, 18 October
  • Creepy Crafts, Cardiff, half term week
  • Margam Park & lunch, Neath, Port Talbot, 29 October

Shirley's update | West

The Recovery Team at Plymouth RC had a wonderful Family Fun Day on 2 September. The weather was great and we all enjoyed the outdoor BBQ plus scrumptious cakes from the Cake Lady.

Plenty of fun and laughs were had particularly on the giant bouncy castle and the surf simulator.

Other activities included archery, Cheezifit, frisbee golf, a raffle and a visit from the Naval Base Pest Controller, who brought her hawks with her and used them to scare away the seagulls! The children were thrilled to be able to hold the hawks and get up close to them, plus there was a special guest appearance from Hero Bear!

What's coming up?

  • The Garden House autumn visit and cream tea, Wednesday 11 October
  • Outreach and RGT Redruth Cornwall, Thursday 12 October
  • Outreach and RGT Taunton Cosy Club, Thursday 26 October
  • There will be something arranged for families during half term October.

Emails will be sent nearer the time so keep your eyes peeled!
